About the Bible Reading Plans
Read through the Bible in a year with this unique plan! I developed the original plan in the 1990s after failing, year after year, at my goal of reading through the whole Bible. It has since helped hundreds of people reach their goal of reading through the Bible yearly. For 2027 I rebuilt the plan from scratch and wrote a short devotion for every reading.
The new plan
Each day of the plan, you read from a different part of the Bible, from one to eight chapters. Every week you cover all seven sections. Because the section changes daily, you don’t get bogged down for days or weeks in a part of the Bible you might not currently find as interesting. The days are numbered 1 to 7 rather than tied to days of the week, so you can start on any day.
| Day 1 | Law |
|---|---|
| Day 2 | Gospels & Acts |
| Day 3 | Prophets I |
| Day 4 | History |
| Day 5 | Epistles & Revelation |
| Day 6 | Prophets II |
| Day 7 | Poetry & Wisdom |
Each reading has a devotion: where we are in the story, a key verse from the King James Version, a short reflection, and a question to think about. The standard schedule begins Week 1, Day 1 on January 1, 2027, or you can choose your own start date.
The classic plan
The classic plan is the original, online since 1996. Each day of the week, you read anywhere from one to seven chapters from a different part of the Bible.
| Monday | The Books of the Law |
|---|---|
| Tuesday | The Books of History |
| Wednesday | The Psalms |
| Thursday | The Books of Poetry |
| Friday | Prophecy & Revelation |
| Saturday | The Gospels & Early History |
| Sunday | The Epistles |
Both plans are 52 weeks (364 days) long, so they run in a continuous cycle rather than restarting every January 1. Compare the two plans.
